IBM Connections comes with a performance tuning guide which covers the basics – but there is more that you can – and should – do beyond the suggestions. Every experienced admin has her/his list of items to look at, I will give you mine. Local browser vs server caching in the web server, review of WebSphere heap sizes and garbage collection, DB2 fine-tuning of the database settings, IBM Docs housekeeping and some more. I will also tell you how I learned the painful lesson of being too aggressive and how to watch out for the pitfalls of third party tools.
You will get some of my code, some settings to look at, a bit of special sauce to pour on your Connections environment and the chance to laugh at the pain I experienced and hopefully not repeat it yourself.
